The Heckler & Koch Grenade Machine Gun is a support weapon which fires 40 mm HV grenades either semi or fully automatic. It is designed to be effective against lightly armored and unarmored targets, as well as targets behind cover.

The GMG is used to control large areas. Individual and area targets can be attacked with direct or indirect fire. The enormous firepower combined with their large effective range make the GMG the key weapon in the defense against opposing forces or to support one‘s own offensive behavior. As a combat force multiplier for the infantry and dismounted troops, the GMG is used on a tripod in a covered position or on a vehicle in a weapon station.
