The MP5K-PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) is a compact and powerful arm. While comparable in performance to full size MP5s, the small size and light weight of the MP5K-PDW make this weapon the ideal choice where a rifle or full-sized submachine gun is unmanageable and a handgun is a poor compromise.

Developed by HK-USA staffers in the 1990s, the MP5K-PDW is an original concept of the personal defense weapon that mated critical features like a sturdy folding buttstock and extended barrel capable of mounting a sound suppressor onto the diminutive MP5K. The MP5-PDW is one of the most sought-after models of the HK MP5 submachine gun.

MP5K-PDW variants are made using the same advanced Heckler & Koch technology and superior materials found on all MP5s. Barrels are cold hammer forged. Metal components are made of either machined or stamped high strength steel. Stocks, forearms, and trigger group components are constructed from high strength polymers.

The MP5K-PDW accepts the wide selection of optional MP5K trigger groups — including single fire only, full automatic, 2-round, and 3-round burst options. The MP5K-PDW’s modular design enables a variety of forearms, sight mounts, magazines, and other accessories to be installed for maximum mission flexibility.

NOTE: The MP5K-PDW uses the shorter MP5K receiver and has an extended 5.51 inch (140 mm) threaded, three-lug barrel for suppressor attachment. A robust, folding buttstock designed and manufactured by Choate Machine Tool is especially stable when in the extended position. An HK UMP-style folding buttstock is also available for the MP5K-PDW by special order.
